SS7 for beginner #3

Let's talk about some real life service examples provided by SS7.
1. SMS, short messages service, communication that sends text between cell phones, or from a PC or a handheld to cell phones.

2. Toll-free, such as 800 services, where the caller call specific number, for example 800-xxx-xxx, and the charges will be billed to called-party, free from caller side.
3. Basic telephone, caller calling called number.

That's it for today. Soon, we will start with each layer of SS7 stack protocol.

SS7 for beginner #2

Continuing from previous post, let us go to some of SS7 layers, which is adapted from OSI layers:
- Physical <----> MTP Level 1 (Message Transfer Part Level 1)
- Data Link <----> MTP Level 2 (Message Transfer Part Level 2)
- Network <----> MTP Level 3 (Message Transfer Part Level 3) + SCCP (Signaling Connection Control Part)
- Application <---> TCAP (Transaction Capability Application Part), ISUP (ISDN User Part), CAP (Camel Application Part), INAP (Intelligent Network Application Part), MAP (Mobile Application Part), IS-41 (Interim Standard - 41), etc ...

Basically, again what we need to have in mind, in transmitting/receiving data amongst nodes, the nodes has to adhere to this standard to have "same language".
